Short answer: SHS placement in Ghana is done through CSSPS and is merit-based. The Ministry of Education has told parents that at no point should they pay money to any person for placement. Anyone selling a "protocol" place or a change of school is asking for money they have no right to take.
What these scams look like
- A "contact at headquarters" who can get your child into a top school.
- A fee to "process" a change of school or a boarding place.
- A forged placement slip or admission letter after you pay.
What parents should do
- Rely only on the official CSSPS portal and official GES and Ministry announcements.
- Pay school fees and charges only to the school's official accounts, with receipts.
- Report anyone asking for money for placement to the police.
