Short answer: a real university admission can always be confirmed on the university's own admissions portal with your application details. If an agent says they can "guarantee" a place, sends a letter you cannot find on the portal, or asks you to pay fees to their personal number, it is a scam.
Warning signs
- "Guaranteed admission" regardless of your grades.
- An admission letter that does not appear on the official portal.
- Fees paid to a person, not to the university's official account.
- Pressure: "Pay today or the slot goes to someone else."
How to verify an admission
- Log in to the university's admissions portal yourself, typing the address.
- Call the admissions office using the number on the official website.
- Pay fees only into the official university accounts listed on its website.
