When is the 2027 budget?
The minister pointed to the first week of November in a September interview. The exact day is announced in Parliament's business statement the week before. Last year's 2026 budget was read on 13 November 2025.
What changed in the 2026 budget (already in force)
- VAT: a new VAT Act took effect on 1 January 2026, cutting the effective VAT rate from 21.9% to 20% and raising the registration threshold to GH¢750,000.
- COVID-19 levy: the 1% levy was abolished from 1 January 2026.
- E-levy and betting tax: the 1% E-levy on MoMo transfers and the 10% betting tax were repealed in April 2025.
What to watch in the 2027 budget
- Your salary: income tax bands and the base pay increase for public workers.
- MoMo and bank charges: any new levy on electronic transfers. Use our MoMo charges calculator to see what you pay now.
- Fuel: changes to fuel levies, which move pump prices. See today's fuel prices.

- Jobs and youth programmes: new recruitment or business support schemes.
Beware of "budget" scams
Every budget brings fake messages: "Government grant for all youth, register here", "free laptop" links, or fake recruitment portals. Real programmes are announced on official .gov.gh websites and never ask for MoMo fees to "register". Read how to tell a real recruitment portal and check any number before you pay.
