Short answer: no agent can guarantee a visa: only the embassy decides. Agents who promise "guaranteed visas", jobs abroad with "everything arranged", or who want large cash or MoMo payments before showing any official documents are the main warning signs.
How the scams work
- Guaranteed visa packages sold for large upfront fees.
- Fake job abroad offers bundled with visa and ticket "processing".
- Fake appointment or document fees paid to personal numbers.
- Agents who disappear after collecting from several people at once.
How to check a travel or visa agent
- Use the embassy's or visa centre's official website to see real fees and how to apply. Many applications can be made directly.
- Visit the agency's office and ask for its business registration.
- Search the agency on TrustCheck and check its phone number.
- Pay official fees through official channels, and get receipts for everything.
