Business deadline reminders
Companies lose their place on the register because a yearly filing slipped, not because they did anything wrong. Leave your email and we will tell you when the deadline is announced, then 30 days and 7 days before it.

What you have to do every year
- Business name (sole proprietor): Renew your business name with the Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC). The ORC fee is GH₵70 a year. A business name that is not renewed is treated as lapsed, and the Registrar may remove it from the register.
- Company: File your company's annual returns, with its financial statements, at the Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC). In 2026 the ORC charged late filers a penalty on top of the filing fee: GH₵1,000 for 1 to 4 years in default, GH₵2,000 for 5 years or more. Companies that keep missing it risk being removed from the register.
- Partnership: Renew your partnership's registration with the Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC). A registration that is not renewed can lapse.
- Tax: File your income tax return with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). The usual rule is four months after the end of your year, so 30 April for a year ending in December. The GRA sometimes extends it: in 2026 the deadline for 2025 personal income tax returns was reported as moved to 31 May.
- Data protection: Renew your registration with the Data Protection Commission (DPC) before it expires. Businesses that keep customers' personal data must stay registered. The expiry date is on your DPC certificate.
Why businesses miss it
- The date is not fixed. The ORC announces it each year, and has moved it before: in 2026 it set 30 April, then extended it to 30 June and said there would be no further extension.
- Registering is a one-off, so nobody puts the yearly filing in the diary. The first reminder many owners get is a notice that their company may be struck off.
- Penalties grow the longer you wait. In 2026 a company in default for 1 to 4 years paid GH₵1,000 on top of the filing fee, and GH₵2,000 for 5 years or more.
