Short answer: Mercor pays weekly. Its main payment method is Stripe Connect, with Wise as the alternative where Stripe is not available. For Ghana, Mercor's own help pages disagree on which one applies, so check the payout setup in your Mercor account or ask support@mercor.com. Your very first payout is held for 7 days by Stripe.
When does Mercor pay?
- A pay week runs from Saturday to Friday (Mercor uses Indian Standard Time for the cut-off).
- Payouts for the previous week are generally processed by the end of Wednesday, US Pacific time, and most money arrives on Thursday. Bank timing can vary.
- The first payout is delayed: Stripe holds it for 7 days.
Stripe or Wise: which applies in Ghana?
Mercor's list of supported countries shows Ghana as paid through Stripe Connect. Its pay policy page, however, lists Ghana among the countries where Stripe is unavailable and Wise is used instead. Because the two pages conflict, trust what your own Mercor payout settings show, and ask support if you are unsure. Either way you will need an account in your own name.
Can Mercor pay into PayPal, Payoneer or MoMo?
Mercor's pay pages name Stripe and Wise only. Guides written by contractors say Mercor does not pay through PayPal, Payoneer or crypto. Plan to receive money into a bank account, then move it as you need. Read how to receive AI-job pay in Ghana for the options.
Are there fees?
Mercor says applying, interviewing and working are free. Stripe's optional Instant Payouts carry a fee. Your bank may also charge to receive foreign currency or convert it to cedis, so compare the rate you get.
Which payment scams should you watch for?
- "Payment agents". Someone offers to receive your Mercor pay for you, or to lend you their account. You can lose everything, and account sharing breaks Mercor's rules.
- "Unlock your earnings" fees. Mercor never charges you to release pay.
- Fake payment emails. Check payouts inside your Mercor and Stripe or Wise accounts, not through links in emails or messages.
