Short answer: buy Detty December tickets only from the event's official website or the ticket partner it names on its verified social accounts. Resellers on Instagram, X and WhatsApp who want MoMo payment for "sold-out" tickets are the main scam. Fake tickets are usually discovered at the gate.
The big December events
December in Accra runs from mid-month to New Year, with festivals such as AfroFuture (held at El Wak Stadium in past years), Detty Rave and many concerts and beach parties. Dates and prices for 2026 should be confirmed on each event's official pages, not on reseller posts.
How ticket scams work
- "Sold out, I have extra tickets" posts that ask for MoMo payment, then the seller blocks you.
- One ticket sold to many people. The same QR code is sent to several buyers. Only the first person through the gate gets in.
- Fake ticket websites copying the festival's name and design.
- Fake "VIP upgrade" or "early entry" offers.
- Hacked accounts of friends or influencers selling "spare tickets".
How to buy safely
- Find the official ticket link from the event's verified Instagram or website.
- Pay by card or the platform's checkout, not to a personal MoMo number.
- Do not post your ticket QR code online. Anyone can copy it.
- If you must buy from a friend, transfer the ticket inside the official app if the platform allows it.
- Check the seller's number on TrustCheck before paying.
