Short answer: Shein is a real global fashion retailer. In Ghana, many people buy Shein items through local Instagram and WhatsApp vendors who order in bulk. The vendor, not Shein, is where most scams happen. Check the vendor before you pay, and prefer pay on delivery.
Buying from Shein directly
- Use the official app or shein.com, typed yourself rather than from a link.
- Check the size chart for every item: sizes vary by product.
- Read the delivery and returns terms shown for Ghana at checkout.
Buying from a "Shein vendor" in Ghana
Local vendors collect orders, place one bulk order and share items when they arrive. It can work well, but common problems include:
- Vendors collecting payments for a "group order" that never comes.
- Long, unexplained delays ("goods are at the port").
- Prices far below the app price, which is impossible for a reseller.
Search the vendor on TrustCheck and check their number with Check a number before paying a deposit. Read how to buy safely from Instagram sellers.
Signs a Shein vendor is a scam
- Full payment demanded before the bulk order is placed.
- No past customers you can contact, or comments turned off.
- The MoMo name does not match the vendor.
