Short answer: the only way to see your US visa lottery result is the Entrant Status Check on dvprogram.state.gov. You need your confirmation number, last name and year of birth. Nobody will email, call or text you to say you won.
Last checked: 22 October 2026. Under the court order, DV-2027 selectees should be able to see their result by 3 December 2026.
How to check your result
- Type dvprogram.state.gov into your browser.
- Choose Entrant Status Check.
- Enter your confirmation number, your last name exactly as on your entry, and your year of birth.
- Read the result and take a screenshot.
What the result means
- "Has not been selected": your entry was not chosen. You can enter again next year with a new photo.
- "You have been selected": you may apply for a visa. It is not a visa yet. Follow the instructions on the page and read what to do after winning.
Lost your confirmation number?
Use the "Forgot confirmation number" tool inside Entrant Status Check. It sends the number to the email address used on your entry, so you need access to that email. Embassies cannot look it up for you. If an agent entered you with their own email, ask them for the number. If they demand money for it, report them.
Watch out for fake results
- A "winner" email, SMS or WhatsApp message is a scam, even if it has the US flag or a real office name.
- Sites that ask you to pay to "check" your result are fake. Checking is free.
- See DV lottery scams in Ghana, and look up any number that contacts you on TrustCheck.
