Short answer: We cannot tell you from a name alone whether IC Wealth or Hasty Credit is good or bad, and we are not accusing either of anything. What we can do is show you how to check any investment firm or lender yourself in about five minutes: licence first, then reports from other people, then how they ask for your money.
Why people search names like these
Every week people type "is [company] legit" into Google before they send money. That is a smart habit. Most losses in Ghana happen because someone paid first and checked later. IC Wealth and Hasty Credit are two names we see people searching, so here is a method that works for these and for any other name that lands in your WhatsApp or Instagram feed.
Step 1: Check the licence
In Ghana, who is allowed to take your money depends on what the company does:
- Banks, savings and loans companies, microfinance and lenders: Bank of Ghana.
- Investment firms, fund managers and anyone who invests money for you: Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
- Insurance: National Insurance Commission (NIC).
- Betting: Gaming Commission.
Open the TrustCheck licence check and type the company name. It searches copies of the official registers. If the name does not appear, do not assume the worst, because the company may trade under a slightly different registered name. But also do not pay until you have asked them for their licence number and checked it with the regulator.
Step 2: Be clear what the company actually does
A name like "Wealth" or "Credit" does not tell you if it is an investment firm, a lender, a savings app or something else. Ask yourself: am I giving them money to invest, or borrowing from them? The answer decides which regulator should have licensed them. If they cannot explain this clearly in plain words, that is a warning in itself.
Step 3: Search for reports from other people
Use Check a number, handle or website and search the MoMo number, the Instagram or TikTok handle, and the website they gave you. You will see reports from other people and any official warnings that name it. Every report on TrustCheck is checked by a person before it is published.
Also look at business reviews to see whether real customers have written about the company. And glance at Scam Watch for official warnings from regulators and the police.
Step 4: Look at how they ask for money
Even a company with a nice website can behave badly. Watch for these signs:
- Guaranteed returns. Real investments carry risk. Anyone promising you a fixed high profit in a short time should worry you.
- "Double your money". The Bank of Ghana and the SEC have both warned Ghanaians about schemes like this.
- Pressure. "Pay today or lose your slot" is how scammers rush you past your own doubts.
- A personal MoMo number. A real company should pay into and out of a business account in the company's name, not a person's number.
- Upfront fees for a loan. A lender that asks you to send "processing" or "insurance" money before you receive the loan is a classic trap. Fees should be shown clearly in the loan agreement, not demanded by chat.
- Asking for your PIN, OTP or password. No real company needs these. Never share them.
- Contacts only on WhatsApp. No office address, no landline, no way to visit.
Step 5: Test with a small step, and keep records
If everything checks out and you still decide to go ahead, start with a small amount you can afford to lose. Pay only by a traceable method, keep screenshots of the chat, the receipt and the agreement, and ask for a written contract with the company's registered name on it.
If you already sent money
- Call your bank or MoMo provider at once and ask what can be done. Speed matters.
- Report to the Ghana Police Cybercrime Unit, or call the Cyber Security Authority on 292.
- Stop sending "one more fee" to get your money out. That is how losses grow.
- Warn others by filing a report at /check/report. A person will check it before it is published.
We cannot promise to recover money, but reporting quickly gives you the best chance of getting proper help.
Used one of these companies already?
If you have dealt with IC Wealth, Hasty Credit or any other company, your honest experience helps the next person. You can write a review and attach proof. Reviews are approved by a person before they appear, and we ask you to keep it to facts: what you paid, what you were promised, what happened.
The bottom line
A search result that says "legit" does not make a company legit, and a name you have never heard of is not automatically a scam. Licence, reports, and how they ask for money: check all three before you pay. It costs nothing and takes minutes.
